The year 2023 has been a great one for music lovers, with some amazing releases from top artists like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. Miley’s “Endless Summer Vacation” and Taylor’s “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” have all been highly popular. Additionally, Miley has gifted her fans with a brand new song titled “Used To Be Young,” which she has turned into an engaging TikTok series.

Miley is thrilled about the series, which draws inspiration from her latest song, covering thirty years of her life, starting from her birth year in 1992 to 2023. In the series debut video, Miley can be seen lounging on a couch with an iPad and remarking that she has nowhere to go, just like the viewers.

One of the most exciting moments to anticipate in the series is discovering how Miley landed the role of Hannah Montana, particularly since it was almost awarded to someone else.

When I was growing up, one of my favorite shows to watch was Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. While there were a few inconsistencies with the show, like how Miley managed to go unrecognized with her wig on, it tackled real-life issues that resonated with viewers. Watching Miley navigate through sickness, loss, and friendship problems made her feel like a relatable character and almost like a friend by the end of the series. It’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the lead role, but in her first TikTok video, Miley revealed that she originally auditioned for Lilly’s part, Hannah’s best friend. However, the producers saw potential in her and asked her to submit an audition tape for the lead role under the name Chloe. Unfortunately, Miley was too young at the time and didn’t fit in with the rest of the cast, so she didn’t get the part. But after a year, the studio gave her another chance, and she returned to LA to prove that she was ready for the role.

Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana was an instant success, bringing in high ratings and gaining a growing fan base. However, Miley Cyrus recently shared on TikTok that she didn’t feel valued in her personal life the same way as her alter ego. In her 2007 album Meet Miley Cyrus, she hoped to clarify that she was the voice behind Hannah Montana. Nevertheless, the gap between her two personas continued to widen. Miley has been open about feeling as if people cared more about her fictional self than her real identity, negatively impacting her. The show’s premise that being in character makes you more valuable was embedded in her mind, leading her to believe that she wouldn’t be cared for without Hannah Montana.
